After Reading 'Daddy-Long-Legs'...
Hello? My name is Haley. Yesterday, I read a book called, 'Daddy-Long-Legs'. I think it was very comfortable to read. You'll see.
reviewed by Hur Jeongwoo
Genre : novel
Author : Jean Webster
What's the story line?
Poor Judy. Judy was an orphan who is in orphanage. Also today was the 'Blue Wedsday' which she named. Every Wedsday, all the philanthropist of the orphanage comes to the orphanage. Cause Judy was the oldest one, she had to do more things than others. However, every dog has his day. Judy was chosen for the person who will be go to the college. An unknown philanthropist decided to do because her English essay was great. The only condition for that was writing letter every day about her study and living to the unknown philanthropist. Before going to her Vassar College, she saw his shadow once. His legs and arms were so long, so she nicknamed him 'Daddy-Long-Legs'. Now, she's on college. She writes letter all day with familiar words. Doing that college stuffs, she met Sallie, her best friend, Julia, Jimmy,Julia's older brother, and Master Jervie, and being friendly with them. That way, she graduated. Also she rejected Master Jervie's proposal of marriage. Then few days later, Daddy-Long-Legs wanted to meet her. Of course, she went to his house wondering about him. Finally Judy met Daddy-Long-Legs. Surprisingly, it was Master Jervie! Cause she loved Master Jervie, they had wonderful 30minutes and promised to marry.
Are the characters believable?
Of course, yes. Judy's letters were so alive and descriptive. Also this story is very realistic. It can be the reality for us, if we are orphans. Also, Judy is very realistic. Her feeling was changing just like a real girl. Her detailed letters show her feelings very well. The flow of the stoty was very smoothly. The event to event connected very well. I think this book is very believable.
On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being best), how would you rate this book?
I would rate this book an 7. It was pretty good story. But it was too soft. It was not thrilling. Also, kids could be boring as turning pages. They would want more exciting events. I thing those things should be improved. On the other hand, the form of this book was very interesting. I had hardly seen the book that is flowing by letters. That would be the strongest pro in this book. I think this book is very great. That would be good to read this interesting form of book. It would be great experience. Why don't you read?

The Great Stage
Have you ever explain on the great big stage? Actually, I have. When I was 4th grade, there was a post on the school home page. It was about story telling audition for our school orchestra, which is called Nuri orchestra. They have western music and Korean classical music together. Click, click. I joined. That was the start of vast amount of practicing.
The next day, we got the script, which was 5 minute long. We should memorize that and speak it fluently. The script was so long and the letters were too small just like ants. Even though it looked impossible to do, I didn't give up. I practiced with holding pencil in the mouth. It was hard. My speaking sounds like mumbling. Also, my spittle run down from my mouth. However, I didn't stop practicing. I really really wanted to be chosen for the story teller.
Then, the audition came to right under my nose. D-3, D-2, D-1. finally it's the day. It was the audition day. I was so nervous that I couldn't walk properly. My legs trembled. On the other hand, I was enjoying this situation. I felt like I'm different from all of the other students. And then, I took the audition. I was the only one who memorize the whole script and speaking that fluently. I was so happy. I knew that I would be chosen. After the lunch, the result came out. I was chosen. I couldn't believe my all sense organ. I did story telling perfectly at the real stage, too. the stage was so large that I should run to the center. The spotlight shed light on me. I was wearing a white dress and a shoes with a little bit of heel. I was so nervous. My heart pounded and pounded. Every one was clapping their hands and looking at me. However, the spotlight was the only light, every one looked dark. I started to speak with a very clear voice. I finished the story telling very sucessfully.
I learned a lot from this experience. It taught me how to be calmness when I'm nervous. Also, it helped my dream, which is announcer. I know that my dream will be chage, but it helped my dream at that time. Like these, joining something you can, could be your strongest advantage. So, be posive, and get your pride.

Days in GLPS
Have you ever heard about GLPS camp? Now I'm in GLPS camp. It is Global Leadership Program for Students. People who know about GLPS camp, they say that it is very strict and always study. Yes, sometimes it is. GLPS is quite strict. However it has a lot of fun things to do. Good experience. In this writing, I'll focus on experiences in GLPS camp.
Today is the sixth day in GLPS camp. It's not enough for much experiences, but I have some. First, I'll write about scary experiences. GLPS camp has lots of strict rules. Like E.O.P, which means English Only Policy, no electronic games, no playing at self-studying time, warning cards, and so on. Yesterday, on dinner time I went to the cafeteria by the main elevator with Cathy. Cathy and I went to the cafeteria with lots of joking. I said "Don't do that" in Korean by mistake. Then PA came to me and I had to got an E.O.P card, which I should remember in 24 hours. It was my scariest experience. I think GLPS has so many strict rules.
However, it has more exciting experiences. It has lots of contests, like the pop song contest and dance party. I'm so worried about that. I'm not good at high-tone songs. Also, it has snacks at evenings. They always hive us bread and milk. KMLA baker bakes the breads every day. Today's bread was the best. It crunched. When we are break time, we used to doing games such as rock-scissor-paper and I-Am-Ground with my roommates. I think I met the greatest roommates that I ever had. Those girls are so kind and humorous. Petra is my well-trained stylist. She used to made my hair-style. She is kind. I think meeting roommates is always a fun experience.
I think roommates make me to forget about the scary events. Roommates make me happy. Do you think that scary events are more big, or exciting experiences are more big?

Ode to Jumping Rope
Jumping jumping jumping rope
hop hop hop
It makes me exhausted
but makes me having fun
Jumping jumping jumping rope
hop hop hop
If you are careless, you'll be in trouble
So be careful!
Jumping jumping jumping rope
hop hop hop
Just let your body hop
and you'll be very soft
Jumping jumping jumping rope
hop hop hop
Now you're done with that
and let your body rest.
